النقطة الأعمق في الكوكب

تُعد تشالنجر ديب التي تقع في خندق ماريانا غرب المحيط الهادئ (1,2)، النقطة الأعمق في الكوكب بعمق يقارب 11 كم (1-3)، وقد سُمِّيت باسم السفينة التي سبر طاقمها أعماق الخندق لأول مرة عام 1875م (1).
